Good for quick code generation

Used the free tier for a bit. Code generation was fast. Interface was clean. Helped with a small script. Might upgrade later.

Feature-rich, slight learning curve

I signed up for a Black Friday deal to get the full BLACKBOX AI suite, mainly for the multi-agent IDE and the bug fixer. Onboarding was smooth; the documentation was pretty clear, though I needed to spend some time getting used to the multi-agent workflow. Delivery was instant since it's software, license key landed in my inbox within a minute. The code refactoring tool was surprisingly effective on some legacy code I had. Customer support responded within a few hours when I had a question about the unified inference API. Overall, the quality of the AI suggestions is high. It's a solid tool, just don't expect to master everything in an hour.

VS Code extension is a game changer

I just started using the BLACKBOX AI VS Code extension and it's incredible! The code autocomplete and git commit generator saved me so much time today. It felt like I had a co-pilot, but smarter. Definitely coming back for more features. You guys nailed it!

Consistently reliable coding assistant

I've been a user of BLACKBOX AI for about six months now, and I'm still impressed. My first experience was with the basic code autocomplete, which was good, but the more recent updates, especially the unit test generator, have really stepped things up. I've renewed my annual subscription because the consistency is there. It just works, every time. It's become a go-to for my daily tasks.

Just got the Blackbox AI VS Code extension running. Seems pretty decent for code autocomplete. Anyone else using it heavily?

A AmitM 4 weeks ago
Following. Thinking of switching from Tabnine.

Worth a try, they have a free tier.

P PriyaS 4 weeks ago
Yeah, I've been on it for a month now. The autocomplete is surprisingly good, especially for Python. Better than what I was using before.

Good to know. I'm mostly Java.

Compared to Copilot?

I tried it for a bit but found it a bit too aggressive with suggestions. Might need to tweak settings. How are you finding the real-time suggestions?
8
G GamerRaj 4 weeks ago
Same here. Switched back to the basic VS Code one.

You can adjust the aggressiveness in settings. Made a huge difference for me.

How often do they run sales? Missed Black Friday, wondering if I should wait for another big discount or just jump on it now.

P Paula P. 2 months ago
They often have deals around seasonal peaks like Back to School or New Year's. Keep an eye out then, or check if they have any current promo codes floating around.

C Cody G. 2 months ago
Besides the annual billing discount (which is usually 20% off monthly), I've seen some promotional codes pop up occasionally for like 10-30% off for new subs. They don't do massive sales all the time, but they do exist.

Is the code generation actually end-to-end encrypted? My company is super strict about code security and I don't want to accidentally leak anything.

L Laura 2 months ago
That's one of their big selling points, yeah. They claim end-to-end encryption for all your code. Good for enterprise stuff.
6
D David T. 2 months ago
From what I understand, yes. They emphasize that for enterprise users. It's meant to be secure so your code isn't just floating around on their servers unencrypted.

Does Blackbox AI have a free trial or something? Wanna test it before I commit to a subscription.

R Ryan H. 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a pretty solid free tier actually. You can use a lot of the features to get a feel for it without paying anything.
3
R Renee Walsh 2 months ago
There's no specific 'trial' for the paid tiers I think, but the free tier is quite generous. You'll know pretty quickly if it fits your workflow.

My annual subscription for Blackbox AI is coming up for renewal and the price looks higher than last year. Anyone else notice this? I got in on some early adopter pricing.

P PoojaR 7 hours ago
I'm still on the free tier, haven't hit usage limits yet. What's the main difference in paid tiers?
12
M Meera 6 hours ago
More requests, more advanced features like the documentation generator, and better inference speeds.

V Vikram22 5 hours ago
Also includes the CLI and enterprise stuff.

M Meera 7 hours ago
Yep, mine also jumped. I think the early adopter discount must have ended. I ended up paying the full price, still felt worth it for the multi-agent coding features.

K Karan 5 hours ago
Did you try contacting support about it?

V Vikram22 5 hours ago
That makes sense. Wish they'd given a heads up.

I'm looking into student discount options for next year. Anyone had luck with that?

They do have one, I think you need to verify with your institution.

Thinking about trying out Blackbox AI for my dev work. Is it really that much better than Copilot? Like, actually worth the switch?

L Lisa 2 months ago
I've been using it for a few months now, definitely faster at generating whole functions for me. Copilot is good for snippets but Blackbox feels more like it understands the bigger picture.
1
A Amber 2 months ago
It's a different beast. Copilot is more about autocomplete. Blackbox's multi-agent thing can actually build out more complex stuff, almost like having another dev pair-programming with you. The enterprise safety features are a big plus too if you're working on sensitive projects.

Thinking about getting Blackbox for VS Code. Does it really integrate well or is it clunky?

J June Osei 1 month ago
It's pretty smooth, honestly. The VS Code extension was one of the main reasons I picked it up. Auto-complete and suggestions pop up naturally.
6
T Troy C. 1 month ago
I use the VS Code extension daily. Integration is solid, doesn't feel like a separate app. The refactoring tool and unit test generator directly from the IDE are super handy.

Anyone know if there's a student discount for Blackbox AI? Trying to save some cash while I'm still in school.

W Wendy 1 month ago
I saw something about student discounts on their site or blog recently, I think it's a thing. Worth checking their pricing page or support docs.

C Carly Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, they do have one! I got a student discount last semester. You usually need to verify your student email or provide some proof. Check their FAQs, it should detail the process.
